Vier-Augen-Prinzip (Content) – Definition

A control principle requiring that a second, independent person review and approve content before publication — common for legally or financially sensitive claims.

In content workflows, the four-eyes principle prevents a single editor from publishing sensitive statements unchecked. It is typically enforced through role-based permissions that separate content creation from approval authority. The principle only provides real protection when the reviewer is genuinely independent, not just a second person clicking approve as a formality — a CMS that shows the reviewer the exact live preview of what they're approving, alongside a summary of what specifically changed, produces meaningfully more careful review than one that requires reconstructing the change from a raw text diff or trusting the submitter's own description.
